Build your Morocco packing list around your destinations, travel dates and activities. A city break, a coastal stay and a mountain excursion can require different clothing even when they form part of the same trip.

Start with the items you expect to use repeatedly, then add anything needed for a specific activity.

Check every destination’s forecast#

Morocco includes coastal, inland and mountain environments with different climatic influences. Check the forecast for each place you will visit rather than relying on a single national weather summary. Read the Moroccan National Tourist Office’s climate overview.

Look at expected evening temperatures as well as daytime conditions. Recheck the forecast shortly before departure and adjust your bag accordingly.

If you have booked a guided outdoor activity, ask the operator for its equipment list.

Choose clothing that works together#

Pack a small selection of outfits you can combine easily. Lightweight layers give you more options than several items suitable for only one temperature.

A useful starting list is:

  • Comfortable tops for daily wear.
  • Trousers or other clothing suited to your activities.
  • A warmer layer for cooler conditions.
  • A jacket appropriate to the forecast.
  • Sleepwear and enough everyday essentials.
  • Swimwear if you expect to use a pool or visit the beach.

Choose clothing in which you feel comfortable walking, travelling and visiting the places on your itinerary. Check any venue-specific requirements when planning a visit.

Prioritise comfortable footwear#

Bring shoes you have already worn comfortably for more than a short walk.

Consider the surfaces and distances involved in your plans. If a booked activity requires particular footwear, follow the operator’s instructions rather than assuming ordinary city shoes will be suitable.

Pack an additional pair only when it has a clear purpose, such as footwear for your accommodation or a planned activity.

Make your arrival essentials easy to reach#

Keep these items in an accessible part of your hand luggage:

  • Passport and travel documents.
  • Accommodation address and arrival instructions.
  • Transport confirmations.
  • Phone and charging cable.
  • Essential personal items for the journey.

Save important information offline. You should be able to find your accommodation’s contact details without depending on an airport Wi-Fi connection.

Prepare your phone#

Download the maps and confirmations you expect to need. Check your charger, cables and any travel adapter against the equipment you will bring.

If you plan to buy a mobile data package, confirm your phone’s compatibility and any unlocking requirements before purchasing. Keep a backup way to find your accommodation if your connection is unavailable on arrival.

Keep your day bag useful#

Choose a bag that comfortably holds what you need for a day out.

Depending on your plans and the forecast, that might include a water bottle, sun protection, a light layer, your phone and a power bank. Leave room for anything you buy during the day.

Avoid carrying everything from your suitcase simply because it fits.

Do a final packing check#

Lay out your belongings and compare them with your itinerary. Remove duplicates and items with no clear use.

Check your transport providers’ baggage limits, weigh your luggage if needed and leave space to bring things home. A manageable bag makes changing accommodation and reaching departure points easier.
