Choose transport for each stage of your Morocco trip by comparing the complete journey. The ticket price and advertised travel time are useful starting points, but departure locations, connections and the final journey to your accommodation matter too.
Start with your route, then check which options operate on your travel dates.
Check the train first for suitable routes#
ONCF operates Morocco’s passenger rail services. Its Al Boraq service connects Tangier and Casablanca, serving Kenitra and Rabat along the route. Other journeys may involve conventional trains or connections. See ONCF’s Al Boraq information.
Search your actual journey using ONCF Voyages. Check the exact station names, departure date, class and any connections before paying.
A city name alone may be insufficient when arranging the journey to a station. Save the full departure station shown on your ticket and confirm how you will get there.
Compare coaches where they suit your route#
Coach travel is another option to research when a train does not fit your itinerary.
Use an operator’s own booking service to check departures and availability. CTM’s official website provides journey searches and ticket booking.
Before choosing a departure, check:
- The exact boarding and arrival locations.
- Whether the journey is direct.
- The luggage conditions and any separate charges.
- Ticket change and cancellation conditions.
- How you will reach your accommodation after arrival.
Avoid assuming that every coach operator uses the same terminal within a city.
Consider a transfer for a specific need#
A prearranged transfer can be useful when your accommodation is difficult to reach, your arrival is late or your group wants a direct journey.
Ask for a written confirmation covering the pickup point, destination, total price, number of passengers and luggage. For longer trips, clarify whether stops are included.
Compare the total cost for your group with the other available options. Convenience may be worth paying for on one stage of the trip without being necessary for every journey.
Compare the whole journey#
For each option, write down:
- Time needed to reach the departure point.
- Scheduled travel time.
- Any connection or waiting time.
- The final journey from the arrival point.
- The total cost, including those local journeys.
This comparison can reveal that a slightly more expensive ticket works better for your itinerary—or that an apparently quick service leaves you with an inconvenient arrival.
Keep connections realistic#
Allow room for delays, finding platforms or boarding areas, collecting luggage and moving between terminals.
Be particularly careful when linking separate bookings to an international flight. Check the airline’s required airport arrival time and work backwards from it when planning your journey.
Where timing is tight, consider travelling closer to your departure airport the previous day.
Prepare before each travel day#
Recheck the operator’s current departure information. Save tickets and confirmations offline, charge your phone and keep essential items accessible.
Use published schedules for your actual travel date rather than relying on an old screenshot or another traveller’s journey. Routes, fares and conditions can change, so confirm them before booking and again before departure.
